Here are some options for other dialogue tags than “said. Excitement: Shouted, yelled, babbled, gushed, exclaimed. There are lots of ways to mix it up and make it more interesting and more exciting. Dialogue tags are words like 'said' and 'asked' that identify the speaker. But you don’t want to use the same tags over and over. It can give you an idea of how different characters think and feel and speak. Words like “said” are called Dialogue Tags. What do you think?
